About The Diver:

Dirt Diver is a conservative political “infotainment blog” – a conservative version of Huffington Post with a heavy dose of The Onion.

But the big challenge we face is that we need content (funny pics, videos, links, stories and other dirt), and we need content ideas.  If Dirt Diver is to succeed, we need you, our readers, to send stuff.  Lots of stuff.  And there’s many ways to do that, which we’ll explain below.

Our Promise to Protect Your Identity

For those with a political agenda, a strong opinion, we welcome you.

We, too, have an agenda: to fuse political information with entertainment.  We recognize that without input from YOU, we will not succeed.  That is why Dirt Diver promises to NEVER reveal the identity of any contributor, unless you specifically say it is OK to do so.

We need your input!  We need your artwork!  We need your hot tips, rumors and political scuttlebutt.  Please send it our way.

Sling Some Mud With Us!

We are always looking for more people to join our ranks.  Send us good stuff and we’ll post it.

The internet is chock full of easy to use comic generators, image editors, and other sources of humorous inspiration.  But being funny isn’t easy.  In fact, we often go to bed laughing at our latest handiwork and wake up the next morning wondering if anyone is going to get the joke.

If you have Photoshop skills, video editing skills, or you know how to find your way around www.icanhascheezburger.com, you have what it takes to sling mud with Dirt Diver.

Don’t be afraid.  Send in the jokes.  Yes, we’ll express our opinions here.  It doesn’t mean yours is not welcome.

If you admire our fine handiwork, and think it would fit nicely on your blog, please, PLEASE download our photos and use them on your site.  All we ask in return is that you give Dirt Diver / Kansas a shout on your blog (mention us in the post where you used the photo), for example.

Value Your Privacy, But Still Want to Participate?

So do we!  Politics can be a nasty business.  Some of our elected officials have prosecution power, others control vast purse strings that hurt badly when drawn shut.  Still others control large and small government bureaucracies that employ hundreds of people.

Perhaps you work for one of those people.  Perhaps you ARE one.

We don’t care.  Join us.  We don’t need to know your name.  Make something up (“Khaleed the Photoshop Assassin” is fine with us), email us from an anonymous Yahoo! Mail or GMail account, and we’ll publish your stuff on Dirt Diver.

It Doesn’t Have to Be a Photo…

Send us the text of those love letters you “discovered” between that Governor and his mistress (or make them up if you have to).  Write a poem.  Send us the link to a funny YouTube video.  Let us break your campaign’s latest TV (or web) ad.

Other ways you can “sling” mud with us:

  • Youtube videos of fake (or real) campaign commercials
  • Sound files edited in creative ways
  • Powerpoint slideshows (we can embed them on the site…just send them in!)
  • Etc.

Scope

What will we cover here?  Anything having to do with national or high-level state politics.  That means, the White House, Congress, any branch or department of the Federal government.  That means campaigns for the House, and the Senate.  And it means races for Governor and other high profile contests as well.

If you’re not sure, drop us a note and we’ll let you know if it fits with what we’re working on for the day.

And if it’s not quite national material, maybe we can start a Dirt Diver / Your State blog, as we have done for Kansas and as we’re working on for Florida and a few other states.

Rumors, Gossip, News and other Half-Truths

Like any other blog, we love to be first with stuff.  But often we get stuff that we can’t confirm.  If we can detect a whiff of truth, or if you’ve been reliable in the past, we’ll probably run with it.

Ideology

Dirt Diver is conservative, but we seek to keep both sides honest.  Those who contribute to the blog always have strong opinions, and in most cases are all strongly ideological, but there are no ideological restrictions on what goes up on the site.  If you’re in politics, you’re fair game.  That’s our take.  We’ll probably end up making everybody angry before too long, but that’s half the fun.    If you think we’re biased and ripping too much on your side, then get in the game!  Send us something that rips back on the other side.
