The “Bold, Principled Leadership” of Jerry Moran (Is Dan Lara on a short leash or just stupid?)
Just couldn’t resist slamming the sheer idiocy of Dan Lara, spokesman for Congressman Jerry Moran, who argued to the National Journal this week that Jerry Moran’s wide margin’s of victory in the Big First is an indication that he’s a bold, visionary leader.
Come on, dude. Seriously? Here’s the actual quote from Lara:
“Jerry Moran is far from timid. Timid individuals do not get re-elected by wide margins as Jerry has done throughout his time in the House. Timid individuals do not garner the broad support of Kansans, as Jerry has consistently done in this election for the Senate, as proven by independent polls and an almost 3-to-1 advantage in fundraising,” Lara said. “Jerry’s campaign has wide and growing appeal, which is the mark of a principled, proven leader.”
No. Wrong. And especially not in Kansas.
That’s the best line you could come up with in response to the Tiahrt campaign’s charge that Moran is “timid?”
First of all, the reason Jerry Moran wins by “wide margins” in the Big First is because he’s the INCUMBENT, not because he’s some kind of visionary leader who has captured the hearts and minds of working Kansans who come out of their homes to wave to his car as he passes by on the way to Washington.
Second, that’s a timid answer to the question about Jerry Moran’s timidity. If he had guts, he’d probably cut you loose to rip on Tiahrt.
Third, the fact remains that in Kansas, the more timid one is, the more electable they are. So what you should have said, Dan, is this:
“Is Jerry Moran timid? Does Charlie Daniels play a mean fiddle? Of course he’s timid, and that’s why the plain-Jane, ho-hum voters of the nation’s flattest and most boring state go to the polls in droves to elect him, again and again and again. The people of the Big First love his timidity, they count on it. They don’t want drama and Jerry Moran has no plans to provide any. Vision? Ha. Guts? I spit on it. Jerry Moran promises to the people of Kansas that he will show up to work every day and he will vote. And you can take that to the bank.”

Very funny. I paid homage and gave a link to the Dirt on my congressional blog.
For political satire, I am humble enough to acknowledge you rule. At least in Kansas.
Dirt Diver has the support of Thomas Scherer? Awesome! I’ll trade you my Nolan Ryan for your Derek Jeter, deal!? Dirt Diver + Thomas Scherer = Need Hobbies.
Hobby Lobby is obviously someone who has been the subject of the Diver’s needling humor.
Lighten up.
